Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are actually open and can close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must satisfy the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a house with a combined gross house income that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined residence money does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and wish not post any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent residents from 2025 nsfas application homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to deliver the proper Identification Document numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are researching or plan to study at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
