Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her guidance and determination to bettering South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) products and services through an engagement together with the agency's senior professionals at a strategic preparing session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the many social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric exams.
In the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for your National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% on the registered pupils during the schooling sector.
These learners attained a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the financial commitment government is making from the lives of very poor and vulnerable young children is yielding a positive effects in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe claimed.
Reflecting on current achievements, the Minister highlighted key milestones and ongoing priorities. She devoted to urgently addressing the issue of long-lasting read more leadership appointments and the scarcity of personnel at most regional offices.
Furthermore, the Minister highlighted the need for Local community-based engagements and outreach routines.
"Our Local community is looking forward to our enormous intensification of Neighborhood outreach, wherever we prioritise underserved spots to provide providers nearer to our folks," she reiterated.
With regards to SASSA methods, Tolashe here urged management to prioritise increasing and modernising methods here to enhance accessibility, queue administration and forestall fraud.
Additionally, the Minister has asked for SASSA Performing CEO, Themba Matlou, to deliver a strategy that sassa seeks to take care of the challenges of payment channels in rural areas by furnishing an alternative Resolution for payments.
